About weRate
weRate is a review and local discovery app on Solana built around proof of visit, with the RATE token and a social account now renamed Lokal. It verifies real visits with proof of location, hashes reviews on-chain, pairs points with token rewards and uses NFTs for tiers and revenue sharing. The pain point is the effort and cold start of long-form reviews, the policing of fake reviews and thin merchant coverage.
On 19 February 2026 the Seeker dashboard added RATE benefits including a token allocation and boosts; in June the team rebranded from weRate to Lokal and changed the product from writing long reviews to checking in, answering a few short questions and earning cashback. The old review product stopped iterating at the rebrand, and the team describes the new app as being rebuilt, leaving a gap in between.
Over the past six months, weRate underwent a major strategic pivot, rebranding to Lokal and shifting from a review-first model to a faster, lower-friction check-in and prompt-based reward loop. The V2 app introduced an energy system, flexible review timing, and deeper Terry avatar traits, alongside Season 2 missions and leaderboards. Backed by Solana Superteam and MonkeDAO, the platform strengthened its Proof-of-Authenticity framework with GPS, device, and AI checks, while planning on-chain review anchoring for 2026. Future priorities include AI-driven venue recommendations, migration to proprietary venue data, and deeper Web3/GameFi integrations to extend reputation beyond the app. The $RATE token TGE is still pending, with credits earned during beta.
