About Velocity
Velocity is a stablecoin-based enterprise payment and treasury management platform. Its core business is to unify fiat and stablecoins in a programmable system, enabling real-time cross-border payments, fund collection, and liquidity management. The platform integrates with existing TMS/ERP systems, replacing manual processes with automated rules, and allows idle stablecoin balances to participate in yield strategies.
Traditional cross-border payments suffer from slow speed, high fees, and the need for pre-funding, leading to idle capital and restricted liquidity. Velocity uses stablecoin rails to achieve instant settlement, reduce reliance on pre-funding, and lower FX friction. Meanwhile, as money moves faster, identity verification has become a critical gap. In May 2026, Velocity partnered with identity verification company Prove, integrating an identity network covering 90% of the world's digitally active population into its platform, providing compliant stablecoin transactions for banks, payment companies, and multinational corporations.
Its core competitiveness lies in combining the programmability of stablecoins with the compliance and security standards of traditional finance. The infrastructure complies with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 standards, and custody and liquidity are provided through regulated partners. The overall narrative is to make money move like the internet: instant, global, and flexible.
Velocity was founded in 2025 by Eric Queathem (ex-Worldpay/McKinsey) and Tom Greenwood (founder of Volt), targeting CFOs and treasury teams rather than crypto-native users. Its core product, the Stablecoin Payment Account, unifies fiat and stablecoin balances across banks, blockchains and countries.
In May 2025, Velocity exited stealth with a $10 million pre-seed led by Activant Capital, gaining its first external validation. Later, it closed a $38 million Series A led by Dragonfly and FirstMark, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Capital One Ventures, QED Investors, Wintermute Ventures, Ripple and Activant Capital. Total funding reached nearly $50 million.
Long-term significance: Velocity represents stablecoins as backend enterprise financial infrastructure — not consumer payment UI. By combining stablecoin rails with banking, compliance, custody and liquidity, it helps CFOs eliminate prefunding, reduce FX friction and achieve real-time settlement. Its orchestration layer may also become the decision point for which chains and networks enterprise flows use, giving treasury platforms strategic influence over the future of money movement.
In the past six months, stablecoin payment company Velocity completed a $38 million Series A funding round led by Dragonfly and FirstMark, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Ripple, and others. Founded in 2025, the company focuses on providing stablecoin treasury and settlement platforms for enterprises and financial institutions.
Officially announced development priorities include expanding the global banking and payment network, accelerating product development, deepening regulatory capabilities, and planning to enter African and Latin American markets, as well as adding custody and yield-generating products. Its strategic roadmap is to build a three-layer architecture: cross-border FX and on/off-ramp infrastructure, network settlement, and enterprise treasury, aiming to become the back-office settlement layer for global commerce.
Velocity recently welcomed Olann Kerrison as Chief Network Officer in July 2026. With over 20 years of experience in FX and cross-border payments, he previously served as Chief Commercial Officer at AbbeyCross, VP of FX & Global Payments at American Express, and VP of FX Products at Worldpay. At Velocity, he will lead the expansion of banking, payment provider, and liquidity partner networks, drive FX product strategy, and advance stablecoin adoption. He initially joined in February 2026 as Head of FX & Financial Institutions, and this promotion signals Velocity's accelerated push to build global infrastructure.
