About VelaFi

VelaFi is a stablecoin-based financial infrastructure platform focused on cross-border B2B payments. Its core services include fiat on/off ramps, multi-currency accounts, and API-driven payment processing, primarily serving businesses operating between Latin America, Asia, and the United States.

Its competitive edge lies in combining stablecoin settlement speed with institutional-grade compliance. By integrating with networks like Circle's CPN and leveraging Fireblocks for custody, VelaFi enables near-instant settlement at lower costs compared to traditional correspondent banking, while maintaining regulatory standards across multiple jurisdictions.

The market pain point it addresses is clear: traditional cross-border payment systems remain slow, opaque, and fragmented. Industry estimates show only 25-30% of B2B FX payments achieve straight-through processing, leaving most transactions reliant on manual intervention. This creates delayed settlements, unpredictable fees, and trapped working capital for companies managing global supply chains.

Over the past six months (February to August 2026), VelaFi has made notable progress. In January 2026, it joined the Global Dollar Network to support USDG settlement across Asia, Latin America, and the US. In March, CEO Maggie Wu spoke at Stablecon Mexico City about the growing Asia-LatAm payment corridor. In May, VelaFi partnered with Fireblocks to strengthen institutional-grade digital asset custody, aligning its security standards with major global financial institutions. No significant negative developments were reported during this period.

Founded in 2020, VelaFi initially built payment infrastructure in Latin America, serving enterprises in underserved markets. In January 2026, the company completed a $20 million Series B round led by XVC and Ikuyo, with participation from Alibaba Investment, Planetree, and BAI Capital, bringing total funding to over $40 million. This round supported expansion from Latin America into the United States and Asia, strengthening its licensing footprint and connectivity across key economic corridors. Earlier, the company had joined the Circle Payments Network, integrating USDC and EURC for near-instant cross-border settlements while maintaining local banking connections. VelaFi has processed billions of dollars in payment volume for hundreds of enterprise clients, positioning itself as a regulatory-first stablecoin infrastructure layer bridging traditional finance and blockchain-based settlement systems.

Over the past six months, key VelaFi developments include: 1) Integrating Chainalysis for real-time transaction monitoring and wallet screening across the Asia-LATAM corridor, enhancing stablecoin payment compliance. 2) Joining the Global Dollar Network to add regulated USDG settlement for 1,000+ institutional clients across LATAM, Asia, and the US. 3) Launching Mass Payout for bulk USDT/USDC disbursements via CSV upload, serving platforms, freelancers, and merchant settlement scenarios. 4) Integrating Fireblocks MPC custody to strengthen institutional-grade security for cross-border digital assets.

Future focus: The official roadmap has not been fully disclosed, but VelaFi emphasizes continuing to enhance its compliance and custody infrastructure, expand USDG network coverage, and refine mobile capabilities, in line with its long-term vision of moving money as instantly as information flows online.
