About Tuyo
Tuyo is a self-custodial crypto wallet that combines spending, banking, and earning into one app. Its core business includes a Visa card (with the 'Buy Now, Pay Maybe' feature, where some transactions are randomly not charged), USD/EUR account numbers for receiving payments, instant free transfers, token trading, and yield-generating 'Earn' strategies.
Its key selling point is that users always control their private keys, and funds are only converted to fiat at the moment of payment. This eliminates the risk of a centralized platform running away with user assets. The 'Pay Maybe' mechanism is a unique differentiator, though it is not a lottery or game of chance.
The main market pain point Tuyo addresses is the lack of trust in centralized crypto services and the complexity of using crypto for daily payments. By offering self-custody, instant conversion, and a familiar card payment experience, it aims to make stablecoin spending as easy as using a regular bank card.
In the past six months (Feb-Aug 2026), Tuyo has focused on expanding its presence in Europe, including opening an office in Madrid, Spain, to strengthen its local operations. The app has also released regular updates with bug fixes and performance improvements. No major negative incidents were reported during this period, though the 'Pay Maybe' feature has drawn some skepticism from users who question its long-term viability.
Tuyo emerged from stealth on May 7, 2024, founded by Aragon co-founder Jorge Izquierdo, introducing a self-custodial wallet aimed at simplifying stablecoin use. In autumn 2024, the app expanded to iOS and Android app stores, transitioning from invite-only to broader public access. By late 2025, Tuyo surpassed 30,000 users, and in October 2025 it launched the TUYO Rewards Program, integrating DeFi yield strategies (up to 11% APY) via Yield.xyz. These milestones mark its evolution from a niche beta to a user-facing platform, reinforcing its long-term vision of borderless, self-custodial finance.
Jorge Izquierdo, co-founder of Tuyo, previously co-founded Aragon (a DAO platform) and served as Head of Digital Product at Allfunds, leading its digital transformation. He is a software engineer with a background in blockchain and open-source development.
Alejandro Perezpayá, co-founder of Tuyo, also co-founded Aragon and worked at Allfunds, contributing to product and engineering. He is a developer focused on decentralized technologies and user-centric solutions.
