About Touch Grass
Touch Grass is a location-based game running on Robinhood Chain. It attaches fragments of tokenized stock tokens (such as AAPL, NVDA, TSLA) to physical locations — typically the store or office of the company behind the token. Players open the app, walk to the spot, tap, and the fragment is transferred to their wallet.
The core narrative is "a stock market on a map": turning physical movement into the entry point for tokenized financial rewards. The project claims no tokens are minted — every fragment was bought and deposited into a vault contract before spawning. A claim server verifies GPS accuracy, travel plausibility, and device motion before signing a voucher, and the vault only releases tokens against a valid signed voucher.
The market pain point it addresses is twofold. For tokenized stocks, distribution has been confined to exchange interfaces; Touch Grass tests whether real-world foot traffic can serve as a distribution channel. For location games, most lack real value anchors; here the reward is an on-chain financial asset with actual economic exposure.
Over the past six months (2026-03-13 to 2026-09-13), the project has expanded to 721 drops across 121 cities, wired in 42 stock tokens, and introduced monthly "legendary" events — a whole share at a single location with one winner. Anti-cheat measures were hardened with per-device and per-network limits, GPS log analysis, and a global throughput bucket. However, the GRASS token itself is a high-risk, low-liquidity meme coin with no public audit, and the stock tokens are not available to US persons and confer economic exposure only, not legal ownership. The project has no affiliation with Robinhood or the listed companies.
Co-founder & CEO: Rhys Kentish, a British software engineer, created Touch Grass to help users overcome phone addiction by requiring them to physically touch real grass to unlock apps. He previously calculated that a lifetime of this habit would mean seven years spent looking at a phone. The app gained over 50,000 downloads within days of its launch in March 2023.
