About Surus
Surus is an institutional-grade on-chain finance platform offering regulated custody, reserve management, and tokenization services through its wholly owned trust company, Surus Trust Company (a North Carolina-chartered trust). Its core business includes: 1) reserve management for stablecoins and tokenized assets; 2) digital asset trusts that enable off-chain investors to hold on-chain portfolios; 3) end-to-end tokenization and custom fiduciary services for startups and traditional firms.
The market pain point Surus addresses is the lack of credible regulated intermediaries in the tokenization sector. Many blockchain projects struggle with custody, compliance, and legal structures, especially when dealing with institutional or sovereign clients. Surus solves this by providing a regulated, bankruptcy-remote trust framework with New York law governance and UCC-compliant collateral control.
In the past six months (Feb-Aug 2026), Surus has been actively involved in the issuance of USDM1, the world's first on-chain sovereign bond issued by the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Surus serves as trustee, collateral agent, and custodian for this instrument, which is backed 1:1 by U.S. Treasuries. This demonstrates its capability to handle complex sovereign-level transactions and highlights its competitive edge in bridging traditional finance with blockchain infrastructure.
No significant negative news was found in the period, though the broader DeFi sector continues to face regulatory uncertainty and market volatility.
