About Summ

Summ is a crypto tax software that automatically imports transaction data from over 3,500 exchanges, wallets, and DeFi protocols across 150+ blockchains to calculate capital gains, losses, and income. It supports tax frameworks in 180+ countries, including IRS Form 1099-DA reconciliation for US users and Share Pooling for UK users.

Its core strength is handling high-volume accounts: it ingests 100,000+ transactions without import rate limits that cause other tools to silently drop data, and its asset ledger is well-organized for tracing balance errors. The LTFO (Least Tax First Out) algorithm optimizes cost basis, and an audit trail report shows every manual edit, making it popular among accountants.

Market pain points: crypto tax reporting is complex due to multi-chain activity, DeFi positions, and exchange data gaps. Summ solves this by reconciling exchange-reported data (e.g., 1099-DA) against full transaction history, flagging issues for manual review, and producing audit-proof reports.

Recent developments (2026-03 to 2026-09): the platform rebuilt its interface, significantly improving transaction table speed and manual entry workflows. Known limitations include difficulty handling concentrated liquidity positions (e.g., Uniswap V3), grouping trades that open and fill in separate transactions, and DeFi receipt tokens requiring manual review—though these are industry-wide gaps.
