Details

Spice AI is an open-source project centered on a unified SQL query, search, and LLM inference engine written in Rust. It allows developers to connect, query, and accelerate data from multiple sources (e.g., Postgres, S3) via standard SQL interfaces, and directly invoke or run AI models locally within the same runtime for inference. Typical usage involves deploying it as a sidecar runtime alongside applications or as a distributed cluster, providing data access and vector/full-text search via APIs like HTTP and Arrow Flight, with support for text-to-SQL. It is built on the Apache DataFusion and Arrow ecosystem, aiming to provide real-time, fact-based data context for AI agents and applications.
