About Sovryn
Sovryn is a decentralized finance platform built on Bitcoin, offering spot and margin trading, lending, borrowing, and yield earning without intermediaries or KYC. Its core products include zero-interest loans collateralized by Bitcoin, the DLLR stablecoin backed by a diversified basket of Bitcoin collateral, and a DAO governance model. The platform's key differentiator is its Bitcoin-native approach, leveraging Bitcoin's security through the BitcoinOS rollup stack, which brings smart contract capabilities such as EVM, SolanaVM, and MoveVM to Bitcoin. This enables a broader ecosystem of decentralized applications while maintaining Bitcoin as the base layer.
The market pain points Sovryn addresses include high interest rates, repayment schedules, and custody risks in centralized lending, as well as KYC requirements and jurisdictional restrictions. By offering zero-interest borrowing, no repayment deadlines, and self-custody of collateral, it provides a permissionless alternative. The DLLR stablecoin aims to reduce volatility through diversification, while the DAO ensures community-driven governance.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), Sovryn has continued to grow its ecosystem, with over 60,000 unique connected wallets, more than $143 million in total value locked, and $1 billion in cumulative spot trading volume. The platform has focused on expanding BitcoinOS integrations, enabling new virtual machines and attracting developers to build Bitcoin-native applications. However, in August 2025, Sovryn experienced a security incident involving its multisig wallet, where funds were compromised. The team responded by pausing affected contracts and conducting a thorough review, which temporarily impacted user confidence but did not halt ongoing development. Since then, efforts have been directed toward enhancing security measures and restoring trust.
Sovryn, a Bitcoin-native DeFi platform, initially built on the RSK sidechain to enable decentralized lending and margin trading. In 2021, it completed a $2.5 million token presale and received investments from DeFi Technologies and Pomp Investments, marking early institutional recognition. A significant milestone was the launch of DEX 2.0 on BOB (Build on Bitcoin), a hybrid Layer 2 combining Bitcoin security with Ethereum programmability. This allowed Ethereum users to access Bitcoin liquidity, trade multiple assets, and stake SOV, expanding Sovryn into a multi-chain dapp. Another key development was the strategic partnership with Portal, Bitlayer, and Tari to launch an incentivized testnet, aimed at advancing non-custodial Bitcoin interoperability and cross-chain trading. These steps underscore Sovryn's long-term vision of integrating Bitcoin into DeFi while maintaining decentralization and user control.
Edan Yago is the founder of Sovryn, a decentralized Bitcoin trading and lending platform. He previously founded CementDAO and Epiphyte Corporation, and held roles at Enzium, DATA, Zynga, and Buyology. He studied at Carnegie Mellon (MBA) and Tel Aviv University (B.A. in Philosophy and History of Science, PhD dropout in Cognitive Neuroscience).
