About Sorella
Sorella Labs is an Ethereum-focused project tackling Maximal Extractable Value (MEV), the practice where validators or bots manipulate transaction order to extract profit, often at the expense of regular users and liquidity providers. Its core products include Brontes, an open-source analytics tool that classifies and identifies MEV patterns in blockchain data, and Angstrom, a decentralized exchange built on Uniswap v4 that uses a dual-auction mechanism and time-weighted average pricing to mitigate sandwich attacks and loss-versus-rebalancing (LVR). The market pain point is clear: MEV causes direct financial losses for traders, unfair execution for liquidity providers, and undermines trust in decentralized finance. Angstrom has been live since July 2025, providing native MEV protection for token swaps and LP positions. In the past six months (March to September 2026), the project has continued operating without major public announcements or significant negative events, though the broader MEV landscape remains competitive and evolving.
Sorella Labs announced the completion of a $7.5 million seed round in August 2024, led by Paradigm with participation from Uniswap Ventures, and concurrently launched Brontes, an open-source MEV analysis tool. Built on Reth, Brontes classifies transactions and identifies MEV activities such as CEX-DEX arbitrage and sandwich attacks, providing unprecedented on-chain transparency for the community.
Another core product, Angstrom, is planned to be deployed as a Uniswap V4 hook. Through an off-chain network, it runs two auctions per block: the first fairly determines transaction ordering, and the second executes orders in batch at a unified price, thereby reducing LVR for liquidity providers and slippage for users. These milestones mark Sorella's transition from research to practical application, mitigating MEV's negative impact on the DeFi ecosystem at the application layer.
Ludwig Thouvenin (Founder & CEO) and Karthik Srinivasan (Co-founder & CTO) are the core leadership of Sorella Labs. Both dropped out of the University of Chicago, where they met. Ludwig focuses on strategic direction and product vision, while Karthik leads technical development, particularly the MEV mitigation tools Brontes and Angstrom. Other team members include Kevin Caballes (Head of Operations) and Will Smith (Head of Engineering), but detailed public profiles are limited.
