About Security Alliance

Security Alliance (SEAL) is a nonprofit focused on Web3 security, positioning itself as a "crypto ISAC" . Its work is organized around four initiatives: SEAL 911, a 24/7 emergency hotline; SEAL Intel, which publishes threat intelligence and blocks malicious domains; SEAL Frameworks, an open-source security standard library; and SEAL Certifications, a modular certification program recorded as on-chain EAS attestations . It also runs Safe Harbor (legal protection for whitehat rescues), Wargames (simulated incident response drills), and lazarus.group (exposing DPRK IT worker infiltration). The core pain points it addresses are the lack of coordinated incident response, trusted intelligence sharing, and clear security baselines in crypto, which often leaves projects isolated during attacks. Its competitive edge lies in a closed loop of "detect, respond, standardize, certify," backed by cross-institutional collaboration and hands-on incident experience. In the past six months (March–September 2026): SEAL Certifications exited beta and opened for applications; it released the 2Q 2026 Threat Intel Summary; and SEAL Intel continued expanding, with 300+ reports published, 200K+ malicious domains blocked, and partnerships including MetaMask, Phantom, and WalletConnect . Overall, SEAL is moving from service delivery toward broader industry standard adoption.

Security Alliance (SEAL), a nonprofit Web3 security research organization, has evolved through several milestones with long-term significance. Founded to address the crypto ecosystem's unique security challenges, SEAL established the SEAL 911 emergency hotline, a 24/7 incident response channel that has recovered over $50 million in crypto assets within its first six months. In May 2024, SEAL launched the first Web3-specific Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC), modeled on the FS-ISAC framework, enabling real-time threat intelligence sharing among nearly two dozen founding members including Chainalysis, the Ethereum Foundation, and Uniswap Labs. The organization also introduced the Whitehat Safe Harbor Agreement to provide legal protection for whitehat rescues during active exploits, and developed SEAL Wargames for incident response simulation. In late 2025, SEAL issued prominent warnings about North Korean hackers using fake Zoom calls to deploy malware, noting these attacks had become a daily threat and had stolen over $300 million, demonstrating its role as a critical early-warning system for the industry.
