RWA.xyz was founded in 2022 by Adam Lawrence and Charlie You, focusing on tokenized real-world asset (RWA) data.
It raised seed funding from investors including 1kx, Archetype, and Shima Capital, followed by a seed round co-led by Neoclassic Capital.
Its data is cited by the U.S. Treasury, Federal Reserve, IMF, BIS, and other authorities, establishing it as an industry-standard data source.
The platform's tracked distributed tokenized asset value grew from ~$6B in early 2025 to ~$33.1B by mid-2026, with total holders approaching one million, making it a key barometer for RWA sector growth.
In the past six months, RWA.xyz released a new asset classification framework in March 2026, unifying non-sovereign debt under a Credit category with subcategories for corporate credit, asset-backed credit, diversified credit, and specialty finance. It also eliminated the Institutional Alternative Funds category and added Private Equity/VC and Active Strategies, centering on economic exposure.

Adam Lawrence, Co-Founder & CEO. Former software engineer at Microsoft, where he used unsupervised learning to categorize Windows build failures; also worked at Commonwealth Labs and was a Venture Partner at Contrary Capital. He founded RWA.xyz in October 2022 to build the leading data platform for tokenized real-world assets, used by S&P Global, IMF, Bloomberg, BlackRock, and backed by Archetype, Jump Trading, among others.
Charlie You, Co-Founder & CTO. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Previously, he was a Machine Learning Engineer at Workday, applying deep learning to document information extraction, and interned at Amazon Web Services, where he worked on the MXNet Model Server. He co-founded RWA.xyz in July 2022, after co-founding Castle Finance. He also hosted the ML Engineered podcast.
