Rhino.fi, formerly DeversiFi, originated as Ethfinex Trustless, a DEX incubated by Bitfinex in 2017. In August 2019, it spun off as the independent platform DeversiFi. A pivotal milestone came in June 2020 with the launch of DeversiFi 2.0, integrating StarkWare's zkSTARK layer-2 scaling technology to enable high-speed, low-cost trading. In July 2022, the platform rebranded to Rhino.fi, shifting its focus from a single L2 exchange to a multi-chain DeFi gateway, offering cross-chain swaps and bridges across Ethereum, Polygon, and BNB Chain. Concurrently, the original NEC token was replaced by DVF, the new native utility and governance token. Another significant development was the integration with Arbitrum, allowing users to move assets between the two layer-2 networks without paying Ethereum mainnet gas fees, greatly enhancing interoperability. The DVF DLM (Dynamic Liquidity Mining) program also represents a long-term initiative to incentivize liquidity provision. These milestones collectively trace Rhino.fi's evolution from a single-exchange platform to a comprehensive multi-chain DeFi hub.
Rhino.fi was co-founded by Will Harborne, Daniel Yanev, and Ross Middleton. Will Harborne, a Cambridge graduate and early author of USDT smart contracts on Ethereum, co-founded the platform and now serves as Special Advisor. Daniel Yanev, co-founder and CEO (2024-2025), previously held roles at Ethfinex and Bitfinex. Ross Middleton, co-founder and CFO, brings experience from commodities trading at Gazprom and RWE. The team has deep expertise in DeFi, stablecoins, and on-chain infrastructure.
