About pippin
pippin is a virtual-character project on Solana built around an AI unicorn persona, initiated by BabyAGI author Yohei Nakajima, while the PIPPIN token was launched by the community on a memecoin launchpad. The character runs a perceive-memory-act loop off-chain, and the team open-sourced the Pippin Framework so developers can reproduce that autonomous behaviour. The pain point is that meme content usually depends on continuous manual output, characters struggle to sustain themselves, and there is no verifiable link between an AI agent and its on-chain asset.
PIPPIN is an ordinary SPL token without staking, governance or protocol revenue sharing, so its price is not directly tied to what the character produces. The token peaked at USD 0.897 on 26 February 2026 and fell to about USD 0.020 by 5 September, with a market value near USD 20 million; the public repository saw no commits in 2026, the last visible one dating to November 2024.
Delistings: KuCoin removed the PIPPINUSDT perpetual on June 23, moving it to reduce-only before auto-closing positions, and Phemex delisted the PIPPIN/USDT spot pair from 10:00 UTC on September 11, halting deposits and withdrawals without giving a reason. Centralized trading access has shrunk in successive steps.
Market performance: The token traded near $0.018 on September 12, about 98% below its February 26 high of $0.8972, with a market cap near $18.2M; order-book depth within 2% of the quote is only a few thousand dollars on several venues.
