About Pi Squared
Pi Squared is a blockchain project focused on universal verifiable computing. Its core business is the Verifiable Settlement Layer (VSL), a decentralized network that enables transparent, programmable, and verifiable execution across different domains. Unlike typical ZK projects that are tied to specific programming languages or virtual machines, Pi Squared leverages formal semantics to allow any language to generate cryptographic proofs directly, eliminating the need for custom compilers or specialized VMs.
The core competitive advantage lies in its universality. By treating formal semantics as the foundation, Pi Squared can verify computations from any source—whether Ethereum, Bitcoin, or custom applications—without requiring translation layers. This approach addresses a major market pain point: the fragmentation of blockchain ecosystems. Currently, developers must choose between different chains, each with its own language and VM, creating liquidity silos and interoperability challenges. Pi Squared's VSL aims to unify these ecosystems by providing a single settlement layer that can verify all of them.
In the past six months (2026-02-28 to 2026-08-31), Pi Squared launched the VSL Devnet, the first live environment for developers to interact with the network. The devnet integrates with Wormhole's Native Token Transfer (NTT) framework for secure cross-chain asset transfers and provides real-time replication of Ethereum and Bitcoin states to facilitate composable multi-chain development. Additionally, the project highlighted 2026 as a turning point for payments, emphasizing the need for parallel, verifiable settlement systems to handle AI-driven transaction growth. FastSet, a related initiative, focuses on building next-generation payment infrastructure with high throughput and instant finality.
No significant negative events were reported during this period, though the project remains in early stages with devnet-level maturity.
Pi Squared, a blockchain ZK solution, completed a $12.5 million seed round led by Polychain Capital, marking its initial capital validation and enabling development of a universal ZK circuit for verifiable computing. Later, it launched the VSL (Verifiable Settlement Layer) devnet, a milestone toward a cross-chain settlement layer that unifies fragmented ecosystems via proof-based verification. These steps establish long-term significance: the seed round secured resources for core R&D, while the devnet provides the first live environment for testing universal verifiability across languages and VMs, laying groundwork for a trust-minimized settlement infrastructure.
