About Pear Protocol
Pear Protocol is a non-custodial on-chain spread trading front-end that routes orders to venues like Hyperliquid and SYMMIO, focusing on pair trading. Its core business allows users to long and short different assets simultaneously with up to 60x leverage, using USDC as collateral, and treats the combined position as a single trade with PnL displayed as a spread. Key features include proportional charts, TWAP execution, and stop-loss/take-profit logic based on the spread rather than absolute price.
The core differentiator is its dedicated execution layer for relative-value strategies, such as market-neutral and narrative-driven trades, which is not optimized on general DEXs. The recent addition of Agent Pear, a statistical arbitrage engine, scans for correlation breakdowns and mean-reversion signals, automating the discovery of pair trade opportunities.
Market pain point: traditional pair trading was mainly accessible to institutional desks. Pear lowers the barrier with a one-click interface, while inheriting liquidity from Hyperliquid.
In Q1 2026, active wallets grew 20% to 6,646, volume reached $249.6M (up 38% YoY), and fees hit a record $143K despite a weak market. However, core revenue still covers less than half of the estimated $315K quarterly cost base, with the treasury runway at roughly 11 quarters. Notably, the protocol continues to spend 70% of revenue on buybacks while operating at a loss. Upcoming products include Pear Pro, a statistical arbitrage vault on Hyperliquid, and a potential token migration to Base.
Pear Protocol launched its public beta in May 2024, initially built on GMX and Vertex, offering over 210 trading pairs. In September 2024, the protocol conducted a public sale of its native token $PEAR, which sold out within 50 minutes, followed by its listing on Camelot DEX on September 25. A significant milestone came in July 2025 when Pear Protocol completed a $4.1 million strategic financing round led by Castle Island Ventures, with participation from Compound VC, Florin Digital, and Sigil Fund. The funds were allocated to expanding institutional product offerings, including vaults and API interfaces on HyperEVM, and re-listing more liquid spot tokens on Hyperliquid's spot order book. The platform also achieved native integration with Hyperliquid's perpetual contract order book, enabling one-click pair trading with advanced features such as ratio-based take-profit/stop-loss strategies and TWAP execution. These developments mark Pear Protocol's evolution from a DeFi aggregator to a specialized pair trading infrastructure layer.
Positive: On July 4, 9.43M PEAR (1.11% of supply) was bought back and burned, linked to protocol fees; Q1 revenue hit record $143K, up 25% QoQ, active wallets rose to 6,646; advancing Pear Pro, Hyperliquid stat arb vault, and token migration.
Negative: Core revenue still below costs, operating at a loss, treasury $3.48M provides ~10-11 quarters; 70% revenue allocated to buybacks worsens cash burn, pausing could extend runway to 14 quarters; other income volatile due to HYPE price swings.
