About Manifold
Manifold is a decentralized AI infrastructure project focused on building an open, community-owned AI cloud platform called Targon. Its core business connects distributed GPU computing resources with AI developers through blockchain technology, enabling decentralized AI model training, fine-tuning, and inference services.
The core competitive advantage lies in its 'adaptive AI' concept: unlike traditional static models, Manifold's platform supports continuous model evolution and value accumulation over time. The network aggregates global idle GPU resources to provide more cost-effective computing power while ensuring data privacy and ownership through cryptographic verification.
Market pain points addressed: high costs and vendor lock-in of centralized cloud AI services, single points of failure, and the inability of static models to adapt to rapidly changing real-world scenarios. Manifold offers a more resilient and economically efficient alternative.
Development in the past six months (March-September 2026): The project launched its public testnet, enabling developers to deploy and run AI agents on the decentralized network. It also introduced a model lifecycle management system that allows models to be updated and improved post-deployment. Partnerships with several open-source AI communities were established to expand the ecosystem, and the platform's GPU utilization efficiency was significantly improved through optimized scheduling algorithms.
Manifold AI (streamspace) completed a nearly RMB 1 billion Pre-A round in June 2026, backed by China Reform Fund, Temasek's Vertex, BAIC, and Xinchuang, becoming a world model unicorn within a year. It launched WorldScape, a real-time world model supporting both movement and manipulation, and WorldScape Policy, a world-action model surpassing existing VLA approaches in closed-loop tests. The company also established WorldArena, an international benchmark for embodied world models, and hosted the CVPR 2026 WorldArena Challenge with 200+ submissions from NVIDIA, Google, Alibaba, and others. Future focus includes advancing multimodal world model research, building infrastructure platforms, and deploying embodied AI in e-commerce logistics, 3C manufacturing, automotive, and MR entertainment.
James Woodman (Co-Founder) and Robert Myers (Founder & CEO) are the key leaders at Manifold Labs. James previously served as COO at Opentensor Foundation, growing the project from $300M to $5B. Robert has a background in investment banking (FinTech M&A at Perella Weinberg Partners) and business development at GSR. Matt Karas serves as Head of Growth.
