About LinksDAO

LinksDAO is a community-driven golf club built on Web3, uniting golf enthusiasts worldwide through tokenized membership and shared ownership. Its core business involves acquiring and managing physical golf courses, with members holding NFTs or LINKS tokens to access exclusive communities, governance voting, and partner course networks. The value proposition centers on decentralized ownership, replacing traditional exclusive and costly club models with transparent, community-led governance.

The market pain point is clear: conventional golf clubs are often expensive, invite-only, and lack member influence. LinksDAO lowers barriers by letting a global community collectively fund and decide on course acquisitions and operations. Currently, it owns Spey Bay Golf Club in Scotland and holds a claimed minority stake in Hillcrest Country Club in Kansas City.

Over the past six months (March to September 2026), LinksDAO faced significant setbacks. Construction at Hillcrest stalled due to unpaid bills, with multiple liens filed against the owner entity, including claims from the City of Kansas City and contractor Matrix Golf. The project's timeline for preview play in late 2026 appears unlikely. Ownership structure disputes also emerged, as the Hillcrest owner stated LinksDAO lacks an ownership stake, contradicting the DAO's public claims. At Spey Bay, the planned reversible course redesign by CDP has not progressed, with CDP unsure of future involvement. While some course improvements were made, the larger transformation remains uncertain. These issues highlight a gap between the DAO's ambitious narrative and on-the-ground execution.

Over the past six months, LinksDAO has been troubled by project delivery issues. Construction at Hillcrest Country Club in Kansas City, where LinksDAO claims a minority stake, stalled last summer over financial problems; architect Tripp Davis said there are no plans to resume. At least three liens have been filed, including by the city, an architecture firm, and Matrix Golf. LinksDAO could not provide ownership documentation, and the club's owner stated LinksDAO has no equity. At Spey Bay, design firm CDP has paused involvement and the planned reversible layout remains unimplemented, though LinksDAO has made course improvements and says it will continue working with CDP once planning permissions are resolved. No clear new roadmap was announced; the immediate focus appears to be stabilizing its existing assets and addressing financial challenges.
