Layer (Solayer) is building infiniSVM, a hardware-accelerated SVM extension for Solana, enabling 100 Gbps throughput via multi-execution clusters with SDN and RDMA. Key milestones:

During 2026-03-01 to 2026-09-01, LAYER (Ethereum scaling solution) achieved a major milestone: the Ethereum Foundation's Interop Layer testnet went live on May 23, 2026 (v0.1.0). On May 26, the first successful cross-L2 atomic call was executed with 14-second latency and ~28k gas settlement on L1. The testnet is not a new chain but a protocol spec + precompile contracts + cross-chain message bus running on existing L2s (OP Stack, Arbitrum Orbit, ZK families).
Official roadmap: mainnet activation follows 90 days of testnet stability, public security audits, then a hard fork. Optimistic target is Q4 2026, conservative Q1 2027. Key unresolved issues include cross-chain MEV prevention, censorship resistance for sequencers, and cross-chain gas fee market design.
