GOPAX
Korean regulated crypto exchange supporting KRW spot trading
About GOPAX
GOPAX is a licensed crypto exchange in South Korea operated by Streami, holding a virtual asset service provider license from the local financial intelligence unit, offering spot trading and fiat on and off ramps, with a deposit product called GoFi and control by a Binance-affiliated entity.
It targets demand for compliant trading channels in Korea, where local exchanges must meet real-name account and anti-money-laundering rules and users weigh licenses and custody arrangements. Risk concentrates in two places: the GoFi product saw withdrawal delays in 2022 when a partner's liquidity failed, denting trust for years; and in October 2026 the operator was named among institutions affected by a large data breach, without a detailed statement on scope.
GOPAX, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, has recently connected with Deepcoin, becoming the seventh overseas exchange to link with it, enhancing international trading capabilities. Additionally, Binance is seeking to sell most of its shares in GOPAX's operator to Megazone, marking a significant ownership change and strategic shift. These milestones hold long-term significance for GOPAX's development.
GOPAX (operator Streami) appointed Kim Na-young, former head of financial business development at AWS Korea, as new CEO on July 27, 2026, tasking her with normalizing operations; largest shareholder Binance pledged support for the new management. The new leadership prioritizes resolving the long-outstanding GoFi customer repayment issue (about 130 billion won frozen since the Genesis / FTX collapse) and preparing the VASP license renewal while strengthening internal controls.
GOPAX / Streami's Future strategy and roadmap: On future strategy, repaying GoFi funds and normalizing management are the top priorities, with resources concentrated first on resolving customer repayment. The company also plans to complete its Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) registration renewal within 2026, and based on strict internal controls and transparent operations, will keep strengthening communication with Korean financial regulators, leveraging Binance's global-standard technology and security to rebuild market trust and bring GOPAX back to normal operations.
