About Gondi

Gondi is a decentralized NFT lending protocol that lets users borrow assets such as WETH, HYPE, or USDC by using their NFTs as collateral while retaining ownership. It operates in a peer-to-peer manner, with interest rates negotiated directly between lenders and borrowers, without relying on oracles and without forced liquidations. The platform also supports selling escrowed NFTs mid-loan with automatic loan repayment (Sell & Repay) and refinancing to lower rates, giving borrowers more flexible debt management.

Its core strength lies in providing liquidity for NFTs, addressing the pain point where NFT holders need cash but do not want to sell. Because there are no oracles or forced liquidations, it avoids involuntary liquidations caused by price manipulation; risk pricing is done by market participants. Borrowers and lenders can negotiate rates directly, and loans can be refinanced by other lenders at lower APRs.

In the past half year, Gondi suffered an exploit on March 9, 2026: the attacker used an unguarded callback in the Purchase Bundler contract to steal about 40–78 NFTs, worth around $230,000. Gondi disabled the affected contract and moved to compensate victims; some NFTs were recovered with community help. The platform was later reviewed as safe. Meanwhile, V3.1 introduced cross-currency purchases, tranche seniority, and stealth bidding to enhance flexibility.

As a Web3 data analyst, here are Gondi's key developments from 2026-03-05 to 2026-09-05:

Security Incident & Response: In March 2026, Gondi suffered an exploit in its "Sell & Repay" contract, losing ~$230K (78 NFTs). The protocol promptly disabled the affected contract, engaged Blockaid for audit, and fully compensated affected users by purchasing comparable NFTs. No other contracts were impacted.

Major Transaction Milestone: On August 6, 2026, Gondi facilitated the $525,000 sale of XCOPY's 1/1 NFT "Dissolution" via its Sell & Repay feature, demonstrating the platform's ability to handle high-value blue-chip NFT liquidity.

Future Roadmap (V3): Gondi's official docs indicate V3 development focuses on: (1) Cross-currency support via Purchase Bundler; (2) Tranche Seniority for granular risk pricing; (3) Stealth Bidding for privacy; (4) Enhanced Sell & Repay mechanics. The protocol is evolving from a lending protocol into a full-stack NFT liquidity marketplace. V1/V2 loans remain unaffected.
