About Glassnode

Glassnode is an on-chain data analytics platform that aggregates raw blockchain data into a unified, institutional-grade intelligence layer. Its core business covers spot, derivatives, ETFs, and on-chain metrics across 1,500+ assets with 15+ years of history.

The main market pain point it solves is the fragmentation and noisiness of blockchain data. Raw data is scattered, messy, and often revised retroactively. Glassnode uses proprietary entity clustering to identify real-world actors (exchanges, miners, long-term holders) rather than raw addresses, and offers point-in-time data that is append-only and immutable, preventing look-ahead bias in backtesting.

In the past six months (March–September 2026), Glassnode expanded into macro and traditional finance data, including interest rates, yield curves, equity indices, FX, and commodities. This reflects bitcoin's growing correlation with the S&P 500 and its shift from 'digital gold' to a liquidity-sensitive asset, especially after Bitcoin ETF AUM surpassed $100 billion. The platform also launched a Snowflake data sharing environment, delivering full-history on-chain data directly into institutional data warehouses without custom API pipelines. Weekly research reports indicate the market remains in a risk-off repair phase, with price facing resistance near the $69,000 short-term holder cost basis and strong demand support around $63,000. No major negative events were reported during this period, though the inherent mutability of on-chain data remains a known industry challenge that Glassnode addresses through point-in-time snapshots.

Updated: Sep 12, 2026

Over the past six months, Glassnode has accelerated its shift toward macro data and AI-agent accessibility. On the data front: it launched a new Macro Indicators category integrating traditional finance data such as US M2 money supply and Fed balance sheet; expanded derivatives coverage with perpetual futures order book depth metrics (bid/ask spread, liquidity, order book imbalance, etc.) and the Coinbase Premium Index; added Accumulation Trend Score by wallet-size cohort and options IV skew heatmaps. On the product front: it released a CLI tool, added MCP protocol support, and integrated Snowflake for multi-path programmatic access. Most strategically, it adopted the x402 payment standard, enabling AI agents to pay per-call with USDC without API keys — marking a shift in data distribution from analyst-facing to machine-facing.

Future priorities: deepening macro and TradFi data integration; improving the AI-agent ecosystem (x402, MCP); expanding derivatives and options data coverage; and strengthening institutional-grade data infrastructure.
