About Flat Money

Details

Flat Money is a decentralized onchain money protocol built on Ethereum Layer 2 networks (Base and Arbitrum). It allows users to deposit liquid staking derivatives (LSDs) such as rETH or eETH as collateral to mint UNIT, a flatcoin. UNIT is not pegged to the US dollar; instead, its value grows over time in USD terms, supported by LSD staking yields and fees from the protocol's perpetual futures market, including trading fees, funding rates, and liquidation fees. The protocol uses a dual-market structure: UNIT holders provide liquidity and maintain a delta-neutral position, while leverage traders can deposit rETH or eETH as margin to borrow additional assets and open long positions on ETH via perpetual futures. The protocol operates entirely onchain with no exposure to offchain assets, and supports minting and redemption at any time.
