About Essential

Details

Essential is an intent-centric declarative blockchain protocol and the first executionless blockchain. It replaces transaction instructions with constraints: users sign intents expressing desired outcomes, developers define application logic in the Pint constraint-based language, and solvers compete to find optimal state updates that satisfy constraints and bundle them into blocks. This avoids state drift and failed transactions, improving throughput and verifiability. The project also proposes an intent-centric account abstraction standard for EVM and plans a modular intent layer for cross-chain intent execution and MEV resistance.
