About Drakula
Drakula began as Showtime, an NFT-focused social network founded in 2020 and often described as "Instagram for NFTs." It raised $610K in Pre-Seed and $7.6M in Seed during 2021, then launched on mainnet in January 2022.
Later, it pivoted into a short-form video platform built on Farcaster, introducing creator tokens where creators earn a 5% fee from each token trade. Within 12 days of launch, over $575,000 had been paid out to creators, validating an onchain "create-to-earn" model.
In March 2024, Drakula received a 10M DEGEN grant from the DEGEN ecosystem and launched the 20M DEGEN (about $333,000) Onchain Creator Fund, offering up to $1,000 weekly to original video creators. The fund later grew to $800,000, becoming one of the earliest sustained onchain creator incentives in short-form video.
