About Donate.gg

Donate.gg is a crypto donation platform that enables users to donate cryptocurrencies to nonprofits. Its core business model relies on the Pump.fun Charity Coins feature, where a portion of memecoin trading fees is routed to charitable causes. The platform automatically converts crypto donations into fiat currency and transfers them directly to nonprofits' bank accounts, eliminating the need for these organizations to hold or manage crypto assets themselves.

Its core value proposition is the "permissionless" and automated donation pipeline: nonprofits do not need to proactively register or set up crypto wallets, which lowers the entry barrier for traditional charities. This addresses a common pain point in crypto philanthropy—many nonprofits lack the technical capacity or willingness to accept digital assets, while donors seek transparent and low-friction giving channels.

However, in the past six months (March to September 2026), Donate.gg faced significant backlash. An audit by Whole Whale revealed that approximately 9,731 nonprofit pages were created on the platform without the organizations' knowledge or consent, with 88% generated on a single day. After media inquiries, 7,675 pages were removed, but at least $137 million had already been traded through Pump.fun Charity Coins. The platform charges a 3% fee on direct donations and a 10% fee on API/Charity Coin transactions, despite earlier claims of being fee-free. Additionally, if a nonprofit fails to claim funds within an unspecified period, Donate.gg may redirect the money to another charity of its choosing, raising concerns about donor intent and fund accountability.

In the past six months (2026-03-07 to 2026-09-07), Donate.gg saw major developments. In April 2026, it launched Charity Coins with Pump.fun, allowing creators to route fees to charities via Donate.gg. This drove a surge: 92% of funded charity wallets were created after launch, with trading volume reaching $137M and processed donations hitting $3.9M by July. However, controversy emerged: 7,673 of 9,731 listed charities were removed after a Nonprofit Newsfeed inquiry, as most pages had no donations. About $2M in funds awaited unregistered charities. The platform clarified fees: 3% for direct donations (0% possible with tip), 10% for API-integrated flows like Charity Coins. Future focus: prioritizing fund distribution to intended recipients, improving transparency, and refining the permissionless charity listing process to prevent unauthorized pages. No official roadmap was released, but these operational fixes are central.
