Details

CryptoKitties is a digital collectible game built on the Ethereum blockchain and one of the earliest projects to adopt the ERC-721 non-fungible token (NFT) standard. Each CryptoKitty has a unique 256-bit genome that determines its visual traits (such as pattern, eyes, fur color, etc.), with ownership secured by smart contracts. Players can buy, sell, and breed CryptoKitties: breeding combines the genes of two cats to produce offspring with new traits, and some rare traits can be inherited or mutated across generations. The game mechanics also include auctions and siring, with transactions conducted in ETH. The project once caused Ethereum network congestion due to its popularity, its core contract code is open-sourced, and it plans to migrate to the Flow chain for better performance.
