About Chronicle Protocol

Chronicle Protocol is a decentralized oracle network focused on verifiable data. Its core business is providing high-integrity data feeds for DeFi and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). The flagship service, Proof of Asset, enables continuous, on-chain verification of asset holdings (e.g., treasury bills, money market funds) by publishing holdings-level data, source inputs, and cryptographic signatures. This allows anyone to independently audit the underlying assets of a token, not just trust a reported price.

Market pain point: Traditional oracles often act as opaque black boxes—users see a final price but cannot verify how it was derived. For tokenized assets, this creates a single point of failure: the entity reporting holdings is also the entity holding them, leading to trust gaps and potential manipulation.

Core competitiveness: Chronicle differentiates itself through transparency and cryptographic verifiability. Every data point on its dashboard shows the exact composition, source, and signing history, turning the oracle from a trusted intermediary into an auditable tool. It also emphasizes scalability and cost-efficiency for EVM chains.

Recent development (Feb–Aug 2026): In February, BlackRock’s BUIDL fund (a tokenized treasury product) expanded to Uniswap, with Chronicle serving as its verification layer—this marked a significant step for institutional-grade RWA data. In August, Chronicle achieved ISO/IEC 27001 certification, an international standard for information security management, reinforcing its institutional credibility. The protocol also continued to grow its Proof of Asset ecosystem across various asset classes, from money market funds to private credit.

Chronicle Protocol, originally launched in 2017 as MakerDAO's oracle, became independent in 2023 under Chronicle Labs. In 2024, it introduced Scribe, a novel oracle architecture using Schnorr signatures, reducing update costs by 6x vs Chainlink. In March 2025, it raised $12M seed led by Strobe, with participation from Brevan Howard Digital, Robot Ventures, and others. The protocol now secures over $12.6B in TVS, expanding beyond DeFi to tokenized real-world assets.

Key progress (2026-03-15 to 2026-09-15): Chronicle’s Proof of Asset now verifies BlackRock’s BUIDL fund tokenized by Securitize, with ~$2.1B AUM, while total value secured reached $5B (). It became Centrifuge’s primary oracle partner, powers the ACRDX/USDC market on Morpho for Apollo private credit, verifies MoonPay’s M0-based stablecoin reserves, and provides independent verification for Securitize’s tokenized AAA CLO fund (STAC) with BNY custody (). Chronicle also achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification ().

Future focus: Chronicle states tokenization only scales with verifiable data; Proof of Asset is becoming the institutional standard for onchain assets. It will build a unified data layer combining Proof of Asset with DeFi price feeds to support hybrid finance across private credit, CLOs, stablecoins, and tokenized funds ().
