Details

Carmine is a decentralized options AMM built on StarkNet that allows users to directly buy and sell European-style call and put options, while enabling liquidity providers (LPs) to deposit funds and earn fees. Its core mechanism assigns two independent pools per underlying asset: a quote pool (e.g., USDC) and a base pool (e.g., ETH), supporting put and call options respectively. Pool capital is divided into available capital (usable for writing new options or LP withdrawals) and locked capital (collateral for short options). Option pricing follows the Black-Scholes model, with a dynamic volatility adjustment: volatility increases when users buy options and decreases when they sell, incentivizing arbitrageurs to rebalance pool exposure. The maximum trade size is capped at 20% of the pool size to control risk.
