About Cabin
Cabin is a member-owned network of physical spaces for remote workers and online creators. It operates as a DAO, using on-chain governance and a token-curated registry to manage a global directory of coliving and coworking locations. Members, called citizens, pay a fee or hold tokens to access these spaces and participate in governance.
The core value proposition is creating a distributed "network city" where community, culture, and economy start online but manifest in physical places. Citizens get access to dozens of coliving spaces worldwide, an online marketplace for goods and services, discounts from partner brands, and a physical passport linked to their crypto wallet. The system uses NFT-based "passport stamps" to verify skills, roles, and participation across the network.
The problem it addresses is the isolation and instability of remote work. Cabin aims to provide a trusted, community-based alternative to traditional cities or solo living, where reputation and access are portable across locations. It attempts to solve trust and coordination in decentralized communities through token incentives and verifiable credentials.
In the past six months (2026-03-05 to 2026-09-05), Cabin has continued operating its network of physical nodes, though specific recent developments are not well-documented in available sources. The project has acknowledged that operational costs have been heavier than the network could sustain, which is a known challenge. It remains focused on expanding its directory of nodes and refining its governance mechanisms, but concrete milestones from this period are not publicly confirmed.
