About Bloq

Bloq provides blockchain infrastructure services, including node management (BloqNodes) and staking services (BloqStake), supporting networks such as Ethereum and Avalanche. Its core strength lies in being a multi-chain infrastructure provider, offering enterprise-grade solutions that simplify blockchain deployment and staking operations. The market pain point is that enterprises face high complexity and cost in managing blockchain nodes, while staking processes are often cumbersome. Bloq addresses these issues by delivering managed node clusters and easy-to-use staking APIs, reducing operational burden. As for recent developments in the past half year (2026-02-28 to 2026-08-29), no reliable public information is available.

Founded in 2016 by Bitcoin developer Jeff Garzik and investor Matthew Roszak, Bloq emerged as a key infrastructure provider for multi-chain networks. In March 2017, the company launched BloqLabs, an open-source laboratory modeled after Bell Labs, to bridge enterprise and open-source blockchain development. That same month, Bloq became one of the first new members of the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, signaling its commitment to standardized enterprise blockchain solutions. A pivotal milestone came with the release of BloqCloud, a REST API platform designed to abstract away blockchain complexity, enabling developers to build across multiple networks without managing underlying infrastructure. This positioned Bloq as a neutral gateway in the evolving Web3 ecosystem, supporting projects like Qtum, Veriblock, and Drivechains through its lab. The company's long-term vision, articulated by Garzik, was to create an 'Alibaba of open networks'—a platform where developers pay with fiat or crypto, reducing economic friction and accelerating decentralized application adoption.

Jeff Garzik (Co-Founder & CEO) has been central to developing and commercializing open-source software for Bitcoin and blockchain. Before co-founding Bloq, he spent five years as a Bitcoin core developer and ten years at Red Hat, where his Linux kernel work now powers every Android phone and data center running Linux. He also serves on advisory boards of BitPay, BitFury, Netki, and WayPaver Labs.

Matthew Roszak (Co-Founder & Chairman) is founding partner of Tally Capital, a private investment firm focused on digital assets and blockchain technology, with portfolio companies including Binance, Block. One, Blockstream, Orchid, Factom, and Qtum. He chairs the Chamber of Digital Commerce, the world's first and largest blockchain trade association, and serves on the board of BitGive, a nonprofit using blockchain for philanthropy.

John C. Vernaleo (VP of Engineering) specializes in Linux/Unix/BSD development, software portability, high-performance computing, and scientific visualization. With over 23 years of experience, he has held engineering roles at Bloq since 2018, progressing from Senior Blockchain Engineer to Principal Engineer, and now VP of Engineering. He also worked at MadHive, Conformal Systems, Kikin, Octopart, and Wyle Laboratories, and holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Maryland.
