About bitstarter

Bitstarter positions itself as the Kickstarter for Bittensor, aiming to get the best teams onto the network and set them up to succeed once there. It runs two tracks: a crowdloan launchpad where teams with subnet ideas present publicly to the Bittensor community, win backing from TAO holders and launch with guidance from the team and an advisory panel at every step, and a machine learning incubator where teams apply for a fully funded subnet with technical, engineering and commercial support built in.

For TAO holders, participation means discovering subnets before launch, asking hard questions and pledging TAO on-chain, with funds locked in Substrate-built smart contracts and released only when teams hit their goals; if a subnet never happens, the TAO is returned. Every subnet on the platform is screened by veteran protocol builders and core team members before it is ever shown, which the platform treats as a quality-control measure to keep low-quality projects from crowding out community attention.

Through 2026 bitstarter closed several subnet raises, including Quasar (Subnet 24, 400 TAO), Djinn (600 TAO) and Handshake58 (220 TAO), under terms of a 25% discount for a three-month lock or 40% for six months. On September 29 it ran Pitchtensor, a live raise where Carbon and Fugal competed for one subnet slot with a 500 TAO target and a 24-hour window, with the runner-up's pledges refunded.

bitstarter will run a two-track model of crowdloan launchpad and machine learning incubator, keep funds in contracts released against milestones, and keep providing technical review, market making and investor relations to subnet teams.
