About Axis

Axis is a DeFi protocol issuing a synthetic dollar called USDx. Users deposit stablecoins into vaults such as Origin Vault and receive yield-bearing tokens (sUSDx or ogUSDx). The protocol runs delta-neutral cross-market arbitrage strategies across centralized and decentralized exchanges, capturing price spreads and funding rate opportunities without taking directional market risk. Its core narrative is "beyond basis": instead of relying solely on crowded basis trades, it dynamically allocates capital across multiple strategies such as CEX-DEX spreads and cross-asset convergence trades. The main pain points it addresses are unsustainable token-incentive yields, opaque yield sources, crowded basis trade returns, and the trade-off between institutional-grade security and DeFi usability. It emphasizes transparency via third-party attestations (Accountable), Chainlink proof-of-reserves, and on-chain dashboards, while keeping strategy details confidential. In the past six months (2026-03-15 to 2026-09-15), Axis minted its first 10 million USDx on April 8, 2026; institutional TVL reached about 40 million USD by July 9 with an APY of 10.54%. On July 29, Origin Vault opened to retail users and filled its 50 million USD cap within 22 hours, later raising the cap to 100 million. It also launched Axis Prime, an institutional liquidity service covering 15+ currencies and stablecoins, scanning over 25 million pricing paths with average spreads below 10 basis points. Risks include counterparty exposure from holding funds on centralized exchanges, potential USDx depeg (a similar synthetic dollar USDX depegged to below $0.60 in November 2025), capacity limits on arbitrage returns as TVL grows, and limited verifiability of strategy execution details.

Axis was founded in 2025 by Chris Kim (ex-QCP Capital) and others to bring institutional market-neutral strategies on-chain. In December 2025, it completed a $5 million private funding round led by Galaxy Ventures, with participation from OKX Ventures, FalconX, GSR, Maven 11, CMS Holdings, and Marc Zeller; the round was 4x oversubscribed. On April 8, 2026, Axis minted its first $10 million USDx. On July 29, 2026, it opened Origin Vault to retail depositors, filling the initial $50 million cap within 22 hours and raising the cap to $100 million. The protocol plans to launch on Plasma, targets 10%-20% APY, and reported a 4.9 Sharpe ratio during closed testing.
