About Aera Protocol

Aera Protocol is a non-custodial treasury management platform designed for DAOs and capital allocators. It deploys dedicated smart-contract vaults where a designated "guardian" executes pre-approved strategies. These strategies cover volatility targeting, stablecoin yield optimization, leveraged ETH yield, protocol-owned liquidity bootstrapping, and automated grant or incentive distribution.

Its core differentiator is balancing trustlessness with responsiveness. Guardians operate off-chain with sophisticated data pipelines, but every action is constrained by on-chain whitelists and hooks that enforce slippage limits, protocol allowlists, and borrowing caps. This "constrained autonomy" model addresses the industry's pain point: DAO treasuries hold billions but lack efficient, adaptive management. Traditional approaches are either one-off diversification (inflexible) or fully on-chain strategies (computationally limited). Aera enables complex, risk-aware objectives without sacrificing security.

Over the past six months (March–September 2026), Aera has continued production deployment, with over $100 million in treasury capital allocated across its vaults. The protocol has expanded multi-depositor vault support, allowing shared strategies via tokenized ERC20 vault units. However, documented risks persist: reliance on oracle quality for less liquid assets, potential guardian collusion if roles are poorly assigned, and possible withdrawal delays during bridge congestion or market stress. No significant negative events were reported in this period, but the protocol acknowledges front-running risks on AMM-based execution and limits to real-time response during unforeseen market dislocations.

Aera Protocol, incubated by Gauntlet, launched its alpha version in October 2022, introducing a non-custodial vault protocol for automated treasury management. In October 2023, Aera announced an $8 million token sale led by Bain Capital Crypto and officially opened to general availability, marking its transition from testing to production. By early 2024, Aera-powered vaults surpassed $100 million in TVL with over 3,000 depositors, validating its market traction. The protocol also integrated with major DeFi platforms including Morpho, Drift, and Pendle, expanding its infrastructure footprint. These milestones—from incubation and funding to TVL growth and ecosystem integration—represent Aera's evolution into a practical solution for DAO treasury management, with its modular architecture designed to adapt to future protocol churn.
