About Aegis
Aegis is a Bitcoin-collateralized stablecoin platform issuing YUSD and jUSD. YUSD is backed by spot Bitcoin and short BTC perpetual futures, while jUSD is backed by JLP tokens from Jupiter Perpetuals. Both maintain delta-neutral positions to generate yield from funding rates and tokenized treasury bills, without relying on traditional bank deposits or fiat reserves.
Its core value proposition is institutional-grade custody (e.g., Copper ClearLoop), off-exchange settlement, real-time proof-of-reserves via Accountable, and independence from the conventional banking system. The design aims to solve the pain point of stablecoin centralization and bank counterparty risk, while offering yield-generating capabilities similar to Ethena but with Bitcoin as the underlying asset.
In the past six months (March–September 2026), Aegis launched jUSD, expanded multi-chain deployments (Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base), and partnered with Babylon Labs and Aave Labs V4 to test fixed-rate borrowing against native Bitcoin collateral. It also integrated with Pendle, Curve, LFJ, and SushiSwap for liquidity. Notably, during the Drift Protocol exploit (April 1) and rsETH depeg (April 18), Aegis reported zero exposure. However, the project acknowledged compressed funding rate arbitrage during 2024–2026, with its insurance fund covering negative funding windows, highlighting a structural risk in prolonged low-yield environments.
