About Zeus
Zeus, or ZEUS Edge and built by Orpheus AI, is an AI weather-forecasting service for energy traders. Its ZEUS PRO model is pitched as delivering forecasts about 4.5 hours faster than the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, or ECMWF, with benchmark comparisons across variables such as temperature, wind and solar irradiance that claim lower error.
The project shows an interactive benchmark panel comparing root-mean-square error of ZEUS PRO against several ECMWF models, and lists pricing, docs and whitepaper entries; users can filter by month, region and variable. The interface notes that its benchmarks rest on historical back-tests and are not a guarantee of future performance, and provides edge-company, benchmark, blog and pricing sections; the whitepaper is offered as a downloadable PDF and users can open an interactive benchmark suite to inspect error distributions point by point. The benchmark report explains the method and data sources, stressing that results come from back-tests on public reanalysis data rather than live business commitments.
Upgrade: In June, subnet team Ørpheus AI published Zeus SN18's preliminary performance report: across an 18-day April 3-21 evaluation window, its aggregated forecasts beat ECMWF IFS HRES by 23.55% on 2-metre temperature and by 14-17% on wind variables, while disseminating forecasts about 75% faster than institutional baselines.
Incentives: A new scoring rule merged on October 15 (effective October 16, 12:00 UTC) switches miner ranking from average finishing position to win rate — the frequency of rank-one results in a rolling window — changing emission allocation; the subnet also features a burn mechanism tracked at about 8.45%.
On November 3, 2025 Aquis-listed Astrid Intelligence committed 3,000 TAO to Bittensor Subnet 18 (Zeus) through OTC and on-market purchases; by April 9, 2026 its position had grown to about 3,711 TAO, a 23.7% increase, while it also validates on the subnet.
Zeus produces weather forecasts through a decentralized miner competition: miners submit predictions scored 80% on RMSE and 20% on latency via commit-reveal. The subnet runs 247 miners and 10 validators with all 257 UID slots filled; the team says average error beats baselines such as Open-Meteo, and a best-recent-performance blend that picks forecasts by region cuts error further. v2.1.4 shipped in October 2026 along with a whitepaper mining section, geographic scalars and a fix punishing negative SSRD only for later challenges.
The Zeus team aims to sell forecasts to energy trading, agriculture, logistics and disaster-response clients through low-latency APIs, and to keep improving accuracy with geographic weighting and the competition mechanism.
