About Zenrock
Zenrock is a decentralized custody protocol built on its own purpose-built Layer 1 blockchain (zrChain), which uses a modified Tendermint consensus and supports both CosmWasm and EVM smart contracts. Its core offering is Distributed Multi-Party Computation (dMPC) technology, which splits private keys across a distributed network of nodes, ensuring no single party—including Zenrock itself—can access the underlying keys. This enables secure cross-chain asset management and signing without a centralized custodian.
The main market pain point Zenrock addresses is the trade-off between security and usability in institutional crypto custody. Traditional custody solutions are either centralized (trust-based, single point of failure) or require complex self-custody management. Zenrock combines institutional-grade security (battle-tested cryptographic primitives, multiple protection layers) with programmability, allowing developers to integrate custody directly into smart contracts and DeFi applications. Its DCT (Decentralized Custody Token) standard lets any token be ported across chains with custody built-in.
In terms of recent development (March–September 2026), Zenrock has been executing on its roadmap. It reported over $20M TVL in zenBTC (Bitcoin wrapped via its custody) and claims to be the #1 BTC asset on Solana's Kamino lending protocol, with 4+ DeFi integrations. It also launched its first external DCT in Q4 '25 and is working toward $50M TVL across 2+ DCTs by Q2 '26. The roadmap also includes launching an external application on zrChain by Q4 '26. No major negative events or controversies were found in the provided sources.
Zenrock has recently undergone significant team changes: co-founders Aditya Dave and Jack Krevitt departed in April 2026. They joined in March 2024 and co-founded the platform. After leaving, they co-founded a new company, Juniper Lane, focusing on tokenizing real-world assets such as AI infrastructure and GPU financing on-chain. Zenrock has not yet announced successors or future plans.
