About Zap

Zap is a trading platform built for the Bitcoin Runes ecosystem, launched by the Ord.io team, positioned to let users quickly buy and sell meme coins on the Bitcoin network. Its official website is zap.app and its Twitter is x.com/CorgiInvestHub; it should not be confused with the similarly named European entity Zap (Strike) Europe Limited.

In terms of business, Zap offered a self-custodial wallet for directly managing Runes assets, and claimed transaction speeds close to Solana, with gas costs covered by the platform and payments settled in stablecoins. It aimed to address the slow transactions, high fees, and poor convenience of Bitcoin-native products, with the core narrative of lowering the barrier for ordinary users to participate in Runes/meme coins.

Over the past six months, the project did not gain the expected market traction. In May 2026, the team said it had run out of funds and saw no way forward; Zap and Ord.io shut down on June 1. The platform advised users to export their private keys beforehand, or import assets into wallets such as Phantom; those who did not export could still access funds through Privy Home afterwards. Overall, the project has ceased operations.

  3. May 12, 2026: Co-founders announced Ord.io and Zap would shut down on June 1, 2026, citing exhausted funds and no clear path forward. Users were instructed to export private keys to Phantom Wallet before the deadline.
