About Yuma

Yuma is an accelerator and asset manager built around the Bittensor network, a decentralized AI marketplace. Its core business is helping early-stage AI subnets (independent model networks) launch and grow by providing capital, technical support, community access, and long-term collaboration. It also runs a validation/mining operation to secure the network and earn emissions, and offers institutional-grade investment vehicles (e.g., index funds) that give traditional investors exposure to Bittensor's ecosystem tokens without requiring deep technical knowledge.

Its main value proposition is bridging the gap between traditional capital and decentralized AI. Bittensor subnets often struggle with funding and technical expertise, while institutional investors face high barriers to entry—such as managing wallets, understanding tokenomics, and navigating custody. Yuma solves this by acting as a one-stop gateway: it incubates subnets, provides infrastructure, and packages token exposure into familiar fund structures.

In the past six months (March–September 2026), Yuma has focused on expanding its asset management arm, launching new fund products that track broad Bittensor market performance. It has also continued supporting subnet development, with notable progress in AI-driven DeFi and prediction market subnets. However, the broader crypto market's volatility and regulatory uncertainty around decentralized AI tokens remain ongoing challenges, and some early subnets have failed to gain traction—a normal risk in this experimental space.

Yuma, a subsidiary of DCG focused on Bittensor, was launched in November 2024 with Barry Silbert as CEO, marking DCG's strategic entry into decentralized AI. It provides capital, technical resources, and incubation for subnet teams. In October 2025, Yuma established Yuma Asset Management with a $10 million cornerstone investment from DCG, launching two funds: the Subnet Composite Fund (market-cap weighted across all subnets) and the Large Cap Subnet Fund (targeting top subnets). This created an institutional on-ramp to subnet tokens, a new asset class monetizing intelligence on Bittensor, bridging traditional capital with the open-source AI economy.

Over the past six months, Yuma achieved major milestones. On June 25, 2026, it launched the Yuma Total Market Fund via Yuma Asset Management, offering broad exposure to TAO and subnets. On September 1, 2026, Yuma announced over 1 million TAO staked through its own hardware validators, making it the largest hardware validator on Bittensor. Its infrastructure powers staking via MEXC, Talisman, SubWallet, and BitGo. Yuma's subnet accelerator supports projects including Numinous (SN6), Trishool (SN23), Score (SN44), Yanez MIID (SN54), NIOME (SN55), Bitsec (SN60), RedTeam (SN61), and Beam (SN105). On September 3, Yuma reported its Total Market Fund gained 18.3% in August, outperforming TAO's 17.9%, while the Composite Fund gained 21.4%. Looking ahead, Yuma plans to expand its staking infrastructure, deepen subnet acceleration and investment, and build a full-stack ecosystem spanning validation, mining, and asset management, making Bittensor more accessible to institutions and retail users.
