About Waymont
Waymont is a self-custody platform built on Gnosis Safe (now Safe) that provides smart-contract-based wallets for crypto-native users. Its core business combines secure asset storage with a user-friendly interface, offering features like transaction policies, biometric signing, and social recovery. The platform addresses the market pain point where traditional self-custody is intimidating and burdensome—users often fear losing private keys or making irreversible mistakes. Waymont solves this by enabling customizable rules (e.g., address whitelists, daily limits) and multi-factor authentication, making self-custody safer and more accessible. In the past six months (Feb–Aug 2026), Waymont has continued to develop its private custody offering, publishing research on the risks of MPC wallets and the shift toward smart contract wallets. It has also contributed to Royco, which reportedly processed over $5 billion in volume. The platform remains active, with a growing web presence and a small but focused team. No significant negative events were reported during this period.
In July 2026, Waymont announced a major strategic shift: moving from MPC-based wallets to Safe smart contracts, citing inherent security risks in MPC (key share exposure, revocation challenges, algorithm vulnerabilities). The company launched Waymont Private Custody, a self-custody solution built on Safe's 2-of-2 multisig, securing over $100B in assets. The platform now offers three touchpoints (Web, Mobile, Connect), transaction policies, biometric signing, and guardian recovery. Future roadmap focuses on expanding Smart Actions (automated triggers, batched transactions, sponsored transactions) and growing Waymont Club & Concierge services, while maintaining security-first principles.
Waymont's co-founders and current core executives are Jai Bhavnani (Co-Founder & CEO) and James Folkestad (Co-Founder).
Jai Bhavnani is the CEO of Waymont, a self-custody platform for crypto natives. Prior to founding Waymont, he served as CEO of Rari Capital, a decentralized finance protocol that reached $1.5 billion in assets under management before being acquired by Tribe for $375 million. He also held roles as VP of Strategy at MyCrypto (which acquired his previous company Ambo) and as a Consultant at Bain & Company. He studied at the University of Southern California.
James Folkestad is the Co-Founder of Waymont. He previously co-founded a stealth startup that was sold to FTX. He also studied at the University of Southern California, attending the Iovine and Young Academy for entrepreneurship.
