About WaterNeuron
WaterNeuron is a liquid staking protocol on the Internet Computer, with its team registered in Switzerland. Users who stake ICP receive the derivative token nICP and, without picking validators or managing neuron lock-ups, can put the asset to work in DeFi applications on the IC, so staking rewards and DeFi yields stack. Compared with locking ICP into a neuron and waiting out the dissolve delay, the derivative token can be transferred on decentralised exchanges or used in portfolio strategies while the underlying keeps earning.
The protocol targets two problems on the IC at once: DeFi applications must compete with neuron staking for capital, which liquidity release addresses by raising capital efficiency, and voting power is concentrated, which the protocol counters by offering a well-known neuron with a full voting rate as an alternative. Governance runs through an SNS, and the WTN token carries ecosystem functions.
On-chain data shows WaterNeuron's TVL peaked near $32.66 million on November 9, 2025, then fell with the ICP price to about $5.2 million in March 2026 before recovering to roughly $7.04 million on October 21, 2026. On governance, the team shipped a dashboard showing direct and indirect voting power, pushing every known neuron below 20%, and worked on cutting the minimum dissolve delay for nICP by three months to improve arbitrage and exit efficiency, while nICP transaction activity rose over the same period.
WaterNeuron will keep funding nICP's exchange-rate growth from eight-year neuron rewards, widen its collateral and liquidity uses across IC DeFi, and reduce voting-power concentration through transparent governance and multiple followee neurons.
WaterNeuron fixes the WTN token transfer fee at 0.01 WTN per transfer.
