About Volcano Energy

Volcano Energy is a renewable-energy and Bitcoin-mining project in El Salvador that plans a two-phase build-out: phase one is a 241 MW solar-and-wind park, and phase two extends to geothermal capacity, aiming to power Bitcoin mining with clean electricity and decentralize the global hash-rate distribution. It targets the concentration of mining in fossil fuels and a few regions by using the country's volcanic resources for zero-carbon hashrate. The core mechanism integrates generation and miners in one site, stabilizes output from wind and solar first, then connects efficient miners and feeds surplus power to the national grid, so Bitcoin's proof-of-work security gains renewable backing.

In the ecosystem Volcano Energy has a formal link with the Salvadoran state, which holds a preferential stake equal to 23% of revenue, while external capital such as Tether co-funds the park. The phase-one 241 MW park has fallen behind its originally announced schedule, and the photovoltaic construction at the Santa Adelaida farm drew complaints from local residents over tree-felling and possible water impacts.
