About Vibes

Vibes is a trading card game developed by Orange Cap Games and based on Pudgy Penguins. It releases both physical and digital cards, with the first set, Enter the Huddle, launched in December 2024. The gameplay features penguin characters, abilities, and rarities, emphasizing deck building and battles, with ranked play and offline events. Its core narrative is "cute on the surface but competitive in depth," using the Pudgy Penguins IP to attract Web3 players and TCG fans.

The main problems it addresses are: traditional physical card games lack digital interaction, while Web3 card games often lack physical products and real playability. Vibes attempts to drive physical card collecting through brand IP while providing a competitive game loop via a digital client. Over the past half year (March 2026 to September 2026), key developments include: the Vibes Asian Championship held in June 2026, won by bbqgaming with Red Control, with a $20,000 prize pool; patch v1.6.1 in July fixing multiple battle bugs and strengthening anti-bot measures; and patch v1.5.0 in August distributing the limited World's Popcorn Penguin promo, removing banned accounts from the visible leaderboard, and delivering Season 4 digital booster rewards.

On the negative side, the official August announcement acknowledged serious issues with the current digital economy, stating that Full Set Frenzy has been enabled as a transition measure, but no timeline has been given for the new digital economy. The client also remains desktop-only, and the lack of mobile support limits reach.

In the past six months, the biggest milestone was the reveal and full set disclosure of Set 3 "Birb & Pengu" (May–June): it introduced the Birb character type, Fits equipment cards, expanded Locations, return-from-ice mechanics, new purple/red themes, and two alternate win conditions, and errataed "Penguin" to "Character" across all sets . Orange Cap Games also announced a $2m pre-seed angel round to advance the Pudgy Penguins IP-based TCG . On the competitive side, the European Championship took place in Bologna in late August with a $20K prize pool and Worlds qualification for Top 8; the Worlds Popcorn Penguin promo was distributed . Future focus: the digital economy will be overhauled—the team acknowledged issues with the current model, turned on Full Set Frenzy as a transitional measure, and is building a new digital economy with no ETA . The upcoming Vibes World Championship is the next competitive milestone .
