About Proof of Humanity
Proof of Humanity is a decentralized identity system built on Ethereum that uses social verification to establish unique human identities. Its core mechanism requires existing members to vouch for new applicants, creating a web of trust that prevents Sybil attacks without relying on centralized authorities or invasive KYC procedures. The platform issues non-transferable soulbound tokens to verified individuals, enabling democratic governance, fair airdrops, and universal basic income distribution.
The primary market pain point it addresses is the lack of reliable, privacy-preserving identity verification in Web3. Existing solutions either rely on centralized KYC, which compromises privacy, or fail to prevent duplicate accounts. Proof of Humanity solves this by combining social verification with cryptographic proofs, ensuring one person equals one vote while keeping personal data off-chain.
Regarding recent developments, the project has continued to focus on expanding its user base in Latin America and other regions, where UBI distribution has had significant impact. The team has worked on reducing entry barriers, including lowering deposit requirements and exploring layer-2 solutions to cut transaction costs. However, no major protocol upgrades or notable partnerships have been publicly confirmed in the past six months. The project has also faced ongoing challenges related to scalability and the high cost of dispute resolution, which remain areas of active development.
Clement Lesaege (Co-founder, LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cl%C3%A9ment-lesaege-a326b9ab/, Twitter: https://x.com/clesaege) is a co-founder of Proof of Humanity. He is also the co-founder and CTO of Kleros, a decentralized arbitration protocol. Santi Siri (Co-founder) is an Argentine social entrepreneur and digital rights advocate, previously co-founded Democracy Earth. He leads the project's vision for decentralized identity and UBI. No other core executives with confirmed roles were found in the provided sources.
