About Unichain
Unichain, the L2 designed for DeFi, launched its mainnet on February 11, 2025, marking its official entry into the Ethereum scaling ecosystem. Shortly after, Circle added native USDC support, expanding to 18 blockchains, while Coinbase enabled USDC transfers on the network, strengthening its stablecoin infrastructure.
In April 2025, a liquidity incentive program drove TVL past $100 million, and later exceeded $300 million, ranking it among the top L2s. The launch of USDT0 further diversified stablecoin options, enhancing cross-chain liquidity. These milestones—mainnet launch, stablecoin integration, and TVL growth—form the foundation of Unichain's long-term role as a DeFi hub, distinct from routine partnership announcements.
As a Web3 data analyst, I assess Unichain's progress from March to September 2026. Key milestones include mainnet growth, with TVL surpassing $1 billion by mid-2025 and sustaining momentum into 2026. The network now handles ~50% of Uniswap v4 transaction volume, solidifying its position as a DeFi-focused L2. In March 2026, Unichain integrated Chainlink Data Feeds and joined the Chainlink Scale program, enhancing data reliability and reducing oracle costs. Additionally, the Universal Protocol integration brought non-EVM assets like DOGE, XRP, and Zcash onto Ethereum via burn-and-mint bridging, unlocking over $55 billion in cross-chain liquidity. Official roadmap priorities include: (1) advancing Superchain interoperability with single-block cross-chain messaging; (2) supporting ERC-7683 for intent-based routing; (3) scaling TEE-based Flashblocks to achieve sub-200ms finality; (4) expanding the uAsset ecosystem with more custodians and liquidity incentives. No signs of halted operations; development remains active.
