UXP is used for UXD Protocol governance and its insurance module, serving as a governance token for protocol decisions; stakers share protocol yields and act as the final backstop when the insurance fund is depleted.

About UXD
UXD is a delta-neutral synthetic stablecoin protocol on Solana: the asset side runs low-volatility strategies such as spot longs hedged with perpetual shorts, the liability side issues the stablecoin, yield goes to stakers, an insurance fund absorbs losses and users redeem at face value.
It targets synthetic stablecoins that depeg easily and lack an irreplaceable role next to centralised stablecoins in DeFi, holding the peg through hedged strategies. In October 2022 it lost 19.9 million dollars after a lending platform on the same chain failed, recovering part later. On 20 August 2024 the team announced a wind-down returning 7.5 million dollars of user deposits over a liquidation period of up to two years, approved by governance; the site still shows the pre-shutdown page with no notice.
Kento Inami — Founder; former corporate strategy lead at bitFlyer and derivatives administrator at a Japanese bank; started the project as Soteria in 2020, rebranded to UXD in 2021, and the protocol was wound down in August 2024.
