About Tribes
A social trading app operated by a US company that began with group-owned wallets and, from 2023, approached the market through a shared wallet plus messaging, letting a group chat, vote and jointly manage assets in one place. It addresses the split between discussing in a chat tool, executing in a wallet and tracking in a spreadsheet. Token discovery, group chat and voice rooms, and non-custodial trading share one interface: users publish a Scan to share a contract or market, record direction, thesis, entry and target in a Call, and trades execute in each person's own wallet, so a community cannot move anyone else's funds; a terminal behind it aggregates multi-chain prices, security checks and smart-money flows.
It competes for the same users as other social trading products, with the difference that it emphasises communities rather than copy trading, and trades are never mirrored automatically. The line has expanded from group wallets to cross-chain spot, a trading terminal and an autonomous trading agent that holds its own wallet, runs in an isolated sandbox and can be destroyed by the user at any time. Tradable scope is limited to spot, with perpetuals, prediction and equity markets outside the current product.
Tribes began in 2022 as a Web3-native messaging app: users sign in with ENS or Lens, send and receive assets inside a chat window, co-manage group funds through multisig, and carry a built-in light wallet supporting Ethereum and Solana. In 2026 the team extended its line into AI agents, launching Zipbox, a disposable cloud computer that gives coding agents a root-access environment they can burn when finished, and exploring durable organizations made of multiple agents.
Tribes' social product continues alongside it: one-to-one and group chats, token-gated timelines and in-chat asset transfers remain the core experience. The team stays around a dozen people drawn from Coinbase, Apple, Twitter and Lyft, and raised a 3.3 million dollar pre-seed in 2022 from Kindred Ventures, South Park Commons and the Solana Foundation.In form, it treats wallet addresses as a contact list so users can open a conversation and send funds to any address, while token-gated timelines hand community access to holders, an early approach when it launched in 2022.
Future strategy and roadmap: Tribes wants social relationships and agent execution to share one onchain identity, where people build trust through conversation and agents transact inside controlled environments, with the next phase focused on making that identity and permission system reusable by outside applications.
