About Transak

Transak is a fiat-to-crypto payment gateway that lets users buy and sell cryptocurrencies using traditional payment methods like bank transfers, cards, and mobile wallets. Its core business is providing on/off-ramp services via API or hosted widget, which developers integrate into their apps to handle fiat-to-crypto conversions without building their own compliance and payment infrastructure.

Its main value proposition is regulatory compliance and global coverage. Transak holds licenses in multiple jurisdictions and supports over 160 countries, which reduces the burden for crypto platforms that would otherwise need to obtain licenses and maintain local payment connections themselves. It also handles KYC/AML checks and fraud monitoring, so clients can focus on their core product.

The market pain point Transak solves is the complexity and cost of connecting crypto to the traditional financial system. Building direct bank and card integrations in every country is time-consuming and expensive, and navigating local regulations is risky. Transak acts as a single point of entry, abstracting away these challenges.

In the past six months (Feb-Aug 2026), Transak has expanded its stablecoin support, including adding RLUSD, and introduced virtual IBANs for stablecoin settlements, allowing users to receive local bank transfers that are converted to stablecoins automatically. It also strengthened its presence in emerging markets by adding more local payment methods. However, in June 2026, Transak's India entity was raided by India's Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) for allegedly operating fiat-to-crypto conversion services without RBI authorization. The ED froze a small amount of bank assets and is investigating the company's cross-border fund flows. Transak has not publicly commented on the raid's outcome as of late August 2026.

Transak, a fiat-to-crypto payment gateway, has built a compliance-first infrastructure since its 2019 founding. Key milestones include: 2024-11: Launched PYUSD on/off-ramps, bridging PayPal's stablecoin to global users. 2024-12: Secured Canada MSB and Delaware MTL licenses, strengthening North American compliance. 2025-01: Partnered with Lamborghini and Animoca Brands for the Revuelto NFT, showcasing mainstream enterprise adoption. 2025-02: Expanded MetaMask integration to 10 networks, deepening its role as a primary fiat gateway for leading wallets. 2025-03: Obtained Australian crypto exchange registration, advancing APAC expansion. 2025-05: Closed a $16M round co-led by IDG Capital and Tether, aligning with stablecoin ecosystem growth. 2025-07: Received licenses in six U.S. states, broadening regulated stablecoin services. 2025-08: Gobi Partners invested to accelerate compliant digital asset payment adoption across Asia. These milestones reflect Transak's strategic pivot from a simple on-ramp tool to a globally licensed, multi-jurisdictional payment rail for stablecoins and Web3.

In the past six months, Transak delivered two key milestones: first, it received investment from Gobi Partners to expand compliant stablecoin and digital asset payment infrastructure across Asia, established its APAC headquarters in Hong Kong, and plans to deepen integrations with regional payment networks and banks covering ASEAN markets; second, it integrated with Canton Network to provide a fiat on-ramp for institutions, enabling purchases of Canton Coin via credit cards, bank transfers, and local payment methods, advancing institutional on-chain finance. Official future priorities include: expanding its regulatory license portfolio (currently 21+ approvals), entering the Middle East, LATAM, and broader APAC; strengthening KYC/AML compliance and risk controls; and promoting regulated digital asset payment rails in cross-border settlement, remittances, and financial services.
