About The Better Money Company
The Better Money Company is building a clearinghouse for stablecoins. Its core business is a settlement network that lets any supported stablecoin be exchanged 1:1 for any other, at par, for a fixed fee. Users send a payment order specifying the asset, amount, and destination chain; the company handles the rest. Orders are batched, netted against opposing flows, and only the imbalance is settled with the relevant issuers. This removes the need for market-based trading, slippage, or holding inventory across multiple stablecoins.
The market problem it addresses is fragmentation. Stablecoins are not interchangeable: USDC, PYUSD, and others trade at slightly different prices and require spot transactions to move between them. This makes them poor payment rails. The company's narrative is that stablecoins need a coordination layer, similar to how ACH connects banks, to become a true dollar replacement.
In the past six months, the company has focused on expanding its network. It has announced partnerships with major stablecoin issuers and wallet providers, including Paxos, Bridge, MoonPay, MetaMask, and Phantom. It has also emphasized compliance with the GENIUS Act, positioning itself as a regulated bridge between different stablecoin ecosystems. The product appears to be live or in late-stage testing, with a developer console and API documentation publicly available.
The Better Money Company was co-founded by Sam Broner, a former a16z crypto investor, and his college classmate Adam Zuckerman, aiming to build stablecoin clearinghouse infrastructure to solve the interoperability problem among stablecoins. Shortly after founding, the company closed a $10 million seed round led by a16z crypto, with participation from BoxGroup, Sun Capital, and others.
The company proposed a clearinghouse model of "any stablecoin in, any stablecoin out, exchanged at face value," drawing parallels to the clearinghouse solutions from the era of private banknotes in 19th-century America. Multiple issuers and platforms, including Paxos, Bridge, MoonPay, Agora, M0, Bastion, Frax, Brale, MetaMask, and Phantom, announced their intention to join its clearing network, marking the company's transition from concept validation to ecosystem building.
In March 2026, The Better Money Company announced a $10 million seed round led by a16z crypto to build a stablecoin clearinghouse. It selected BitGo's Crypto-as-a-Service for custody and issuer onboarding. The firm plans to support any GENIUS-compliant stablecoin, initially USDC, USDG, PYUSD, SBC, CASH, mUSD, frxUSD, and RLUSD, across Ethereum and Solana, with more chains to come. Partners including Paxos, Bridge, MoonPay, Agora, M0, Bastion, Frax, Brale, MetaMask, and Phantom intend to join the network. Future roadmap focuses on enabling 1:1 par settlement across stablecoins and chains, eliminating fragmentation and providing a neutral clearing layer for payments.
