About Synthdata

Synthdata is a decentralized network where miners generate probabilistic price forecasts for assets like BTC, ETH, SOL, XAU, and tokenized equities. Each miner submits 1,000 simulated price paths per request, and validators score them using the Continuous Ranked Probability Score (CRPS) against actual market outcomes. The system runs three competitions (Crypto 1h, Crypto 24h, Commodities/Equities 24h) and allocates rewards via softmax based on rolling performance. The core value proposition is producing synthetic price distributions that capture uncertainty honestly, avoiding single-point predictions. This addresses the market pain point that traditional AI training data lacks coverage of extreme events and fat-tailed dynamics, while also preventing confidence manipulation by forcing probability to emerge from path frequencies. Over the past six months (March–September 2026), the network expanded from BTC-only to include ETH, SOL, XAU, XRP, HYPE, WTIOIL, and tokenized equities (SPYX, NVDAX, TSLAX, AAPLX, GOOGLX, SPCX). The competition split changed from 2 to 3, and the 1h timeframe added XRP while removing XAU. As a proof of concept, a public Polymarket account trading BTC hourly up/down markets reportedly grew $3K into $73K, though the sample size is limited and edges may erode. Negative aspects include the risk of model copying, mitigated by softmax scoring and watermarking research, and the theoretical possibility of validator impersonation, addressed through authentication protocols. The project's long-term viability remains unproven, as edges in prediction markets can decay and the Polymarket result may not generalize to larger markets like 0DTE options.

Synthdata (Bittensor Subnet 50) has passed several key milestones since launch. It initially supported only BTC with 100 simulated paths and a 24-hour forecast window. In November 2025, paths were expanded to 1,000 with ETH, SOL, and XAU added, marking a shift toward high-frequency trading. In January 2026, tokenized equities were introduced; in March, XRP, HYPE, and WTIOIL were added. In June 2026, the competition was split into three tracks: Crypto 1h, Crypto 24h, and Commodities/Equities 24h. In July 2026, price feeds migrated from Pyth to Binance spot and Hyperliquid perps, with SPYX replaced by SP500. For real-world validation, Synth achieved 110% profit over four weeks on Polymarket using a $2,000 test account, executing ~12,000 trades totaling $500,000 in volume, proving its probabilistic models' market edge. Synth HFT followed, shortening the forecast horizon to 1 hour with updates every 2 minutes. The API went commercial with Standard ($49/month) and Pro ($199/month) plans. Most recently, Synth Ultra (ultra-low-latency competition) and the Synth Metamodel were introduced.

Positive: In Q1 2026, Synth reached ~$70K MRR and signed enterprise partnerships; Q2 turned profitable and announced a $100K token buyback over 8 weeks, with the first purchase executed. Subnet revenue ranked top 10 on Bittensor. Assets expanded to 12–13 instruments, forecast latency cut to 12–15s, and meta-model accuracy improved ~13%. Synth LLM, academic partnerships, and one-click miner deployment are advancing.

Negative: API access is being tightened to NDA-bound enterprise partners, with existing users cut off after July, potentially weakening retail demand; the buyback size is modest relative to market cap.
